Medical Office Assistant


Rationale

This course is designed to meet the high demand in the job market for Medical Office Assistant. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to enter the job market with a Certificate of Technical Studies through the Louisiana Technical College.

Methods by which objectives will be measured

Objectives will be measured through student performance, and student evaluation. The student evaluation will be done upon completion of the first and second semester. The instructor will do a self-evaluation of the program. The administrator will also do a teacher observation and an evaluation at the end of the second semester.

Time Requirements

Each semester requires a minimum clock hours of 210 each. Each semester has 225 clock hours available. Each class period will meet 150 minutes per day for 90 days per semester. Each semester a total of 1.5 Carnegie units earned for a total of 3 Carnegie units for the year.

Criteria for enrollment

Student must be in good standing with their homebound school. They must have completed English III and completed BCA.

  3. Computer lab

Method of Evaluating Students

Evaluating students will be done by student performance. This includes written test, computer usage, student projects and teacher observations.

Student must complete all course work with an average of 80% to meet the LTC standards. However, all students who make at least a 67% average grade will still earn state Carnegie unit.
