Livingston Parish Public Schools will hold a community celebration on Saturday, October 15 at 10 a.m. to commemorate the opening of the new K-8 Southside Campus, which houses Southside Elementary (Grades K-5) and Southside Junior High (Grades 6-8).

The celebration will be held in the shared commons area of the campus (weather permitting). Activities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a presentation by school and elected officials and a tour of the two schools. Refreshments will be provided.

Community members, former students and faculty, current students, parents and employees, and members of the media are invited to attend.

The campus is located at 26535 LA Highway 16, south of Denham Springs, located along the continuation of Pete’s Highway between the I-12 overpass and Vincent Road.

The new K-8 Southside Campus opened with the start of 2022-2023 school year on August 9, 2022. The original campuses of Southside Elementary and Southside Junior High School were substantially damaged in the August 2016 flood, causing students and staff to be relocated to temporary facilities for nearly six years.

Southside Elementary was originally located on Range Avenue in Denham Springs. That site now houses the Denham Springs High School STEM & Robotics Center. Southside Junior High School is returning to its original location.

For more information on the event, or to RSVP, persons should contact Livingston Schools Executive Secretary Tina McLin at 225-686-7044 or [email protected].
